Study and Research on CALS in Port.
and Harbor Engineering Field

CALS (Continuous Acquisition and Life-cycle Support) is a method developed in the United States and is an integrated management concept of all data concerning the life cycle of a product, which is extended to procurement of material, design, development, manufacture, management, control and maintenance. With the cooperation of government and private sectors, study and research are being conducted for the establishment of an overall CALS application system for port and harbor areas and combined database systems, implementation of model construction projects and promotion for the standardization of various joint database use systems.
Study and Research on CALS in Airport Engineering Field
As for the introduction of CALS in the airport engineering filed, a model project is being implemented with regard to airport maintenance and management and airport construction model projects. Study and research are being conducted for the establishment and development of a project support system mainly in the civil engineering field and in the architect, electrical and mechanical engineering areas, as well as for the establishment of a total plan for nationwide dissemination, implementation of model airport construction projects and the establishment of a data network.
